Personal: Shelley Jones is the only daughter produced from the marriage of Jimmy Jones and his wife Joan. They also have a son named Robert (Buddy). Shelley grew up in the community of Southfield and attended Marion-Franklin High but graduated from East High School in 1984. She married her childhood sweetheart Joe Powell in 1978. Their home of residence is Whitehall, Ohio. They've both been together since they started dating back in 1984, so, they have stood the test of time! They have 2 Goddaughters, Nia and Zaria Vines, ages 8 and 5. Shelley also has a niece (Tiffany), who's lived with them both off and on over her formative years and is like a daughter to them...!

Shelley and Joe were married on November 14th, 1987 in beautiful ceremony performed by Shelley's uncle, Rev. Joseph West of Xenia, Ohio, surrounded by many family and friends. They spent the early years of their marriage living in Hawaii, where Joe was stationed in the Army. Shelley and Joe have fought and overcame many obstacles adversities in their lives and have gained much life experience. "We give God all the glory and thanks for where He brought us from, taken us to and His plan and purpose for our lives". Shelley and Joe are very much in love and very happy in their marriage to this day! Their relationship is very important to them. They believe in God's direction first, good, open communication and spending quality time together, doing the best you can each day and being loving and considerate of the other helps to build a happy, solid, fruitful and loving marriage. Shelley and Joe both gave their lives to Christ in June 1997, were baptized by Pastor Kenneth Moore of New Birth Christian Ministries, where they are both members to this day. Shelley has been active in many ministries over the years; currently her primary interest is Health and Wellness and serves on that ministry. Joe participates in the kitchen ministry as he enjoys cooking and the maintenance ministries, helping with cleaning the church and general maintenance, when times allows as Joe is in school in addition to working long hours, which happens a lot in the skilled trade profession. Shelley is also a fitness trainer, which she is extremely passionate about and teaches total body conditioning classes at New Birth. She is also completing coursework for certification in Fitness Education, Exercise Physiology and Nutrition and does Fitness consulting. Shelley is employed at Ohio State where she is an Office Manager and Fiscal Specialist for an Environmental Science Institute. Shelley and Joe have no children yet, and not by choice, but are involved with the Franklin County Children's Services 'Adopt Ohio" program and are looking forward to getting their family started. There will be updates regarding the adoption process and they ask for prayers, love and support. Hobbies and Loves: Exercising; choreographing routines for group exercise training, fitness consulting, children, writing poetry, conducting fitness and physiology research and Bible study and research. Shelley is very outgoing with a good sense of humor and enjoys fun or funny situations and making others laugh, helping others to adopt healthier lifestyles and always looking for the positive in situations.
