Personal: Mark Powell is one of the 5 children produced from the marriage of Joseph Powell and his wife Winona Steward . Yes, this particular Bio is about none other than yours truly!! ME, the architect of this magnificent Website!! So, without further adu, here's a little somethin' somethin' about me...................I grew up a Military 'brat' with my other brothers and Sister as we traveled from State to state during my father's active duty status in the Air Force. My family settled in the community of Southfield in Columbus, Ohio. I attended Beery Jr. High School and both Marion-Franklin and Central High Schools. I grew up reading a lot of Marvel Comics books with Spiderman and the Fantastic 4 being my favorites. I also grew up idolizing the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers football team and the Philadelphia 76ers NBA basketball team. I attended Kent State briefly in the year of 1973 just out of High School. That experience, living away from home on my own prompted me to enlist in the US Air Force. During March, 1975, I was headed to Basic Training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio Texas. After Basic Training, and Tech Training School in Denver, Colorado, I was sent to my first assignment overseas at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. I then met my future wife to be, Lena (Angela) Rosales. After my tour was up in the Philippines, I went back to San Antonio, then back overseas to Guam. That is when Lena and I were married, in December 1978. We later left the military in April of 1980. We then produced a daughter (Aandrea Llana Powell). I later used the GI Bill to go to a 2-year college in the fall of 1981. I majored in Business Data Processing taking up several Computer Languages. After graduating in December of 1983, I set out to find a professional Computer programming job. This search took me to Los Angeles California to EDS which then sent me working in Flint Michigan. After being laid off in Flint, Mi, I came back to Columbus Ohio looking for work. My wife was then pregnant with our 2nd child, (Milaan Angello Powell). I eventually got a job working in Indianapolis, Indiana in January of 1986. My son was then born. We stayed there until 1990 from which we then came back home to Columbus, Ohio. I have since worked for several companies doing Mainframe Cobol programming work. After I was laid off yet again (see this stinkin' pattern......sheeeesh!) after Y2K, mainframe jobs were so scarce that I decided I BETTER somehow learn the Newer Computer Web programming languages to better position myself in the changing job market. I went on to learn and become Sun CERTIFIED in the Java Platform language. I have since learned HTML, JavaScript, MS-ACCESS, Fireworks Animation Techniques, and an assortment of other goodies! I have learned all of this in the last 2 years and will continue to learn more and more as time goes by. Without these newer programming languages that I have recently learned, I couldn't have put together this website. I hope to one day own my own Website making a little bit of money from it and maybe never having to work for anybody again.....! I am fortunate that my mother Winona Steward has been collecting various family artifacts for quite some time and that I think it's a perfect time to publish this information on the web for all family members to view. We're not gonna live forever ya know.........! So, there you have it, the Bio of me, Mark Powell.........!!
